Target Group 
The course has been designed as a stand-alone qualification for anyone with an interest in primitive technology, either as a career or for general study. Interest has been expressed in this programme by Bushcraft students as well as those interested in archaeology and other cultures.

Content
During the course we hope to recreate the general day-to-day equipment of our early ancestors and to cover amongst others the following subjects in depth:

  • Bow Making
  • Buckskin
  • Flint work
  • Bone, Antler and Bark
  • Final design project of your choice using primitive tools and techniques.

Accreditation
This entire qualification is accredited by the NCFE as a Level 3 qualification. This means that the subjects mentioned above are taught and learned at an advanced level. The process of accreditation and certification is run by the NCFE who are responsible for the quality assurance and control.

What's it about?
 

This programme is designed to take students with little or no experience and equip them with a wide range of pre-history skills. The course will run in 2 and 3 day blocks over a period of ten months but it is possible to do this course over 2 years if necessary. It is possible to camp on site when attending the course and there will be some evening work.

You will be expected to produce a small portfolio of evidence and to obtain 12 credits to complete the award

Progression 
Successful candidates could use the qualification for continued professional development or progress.

Please please note note that this is not a funded course but you might be able to get support from your work place or through some funding awards - (speak to us as we may be able to give you some ideas).

Total cost is £930.00 including VAT

There is an initial deposit of £180.00 to secure the course followed by 10 x regular monthly direct debits of £75.00 per month -the start date is dependent on your first course. This is a substantial discount of 15% (£165) as the 5 courses seperately will cost £1,095 without certification. You will enter into a contract with Woodcraft School for the duration of the course for this funding option.
