Licencing the Intermediate Bushcraft Award

Welcome to the information page about licencing this innovative award from Woodcraft School. We have been running our Intermediate Bushcraft Award for 3 years now with tremendous success and due to many requests we are now offering this out to interested parties. The criteria is explained in the documents below and the only restriction is that the subject must be taught by people who have significant experience in teaching bushcraft and hold a teaching qualification themselves (or are working towards one). As part of the application process detailed in the documents below, we will come out to meet you at your site to assess your suitability and to give you advice on delivery along the way.

The Intermediate Bushcraft Award was originally designed to suit a 14-19 year old age group however we have found that the actual subject matter and how it is recorded also suits adults, especially those with learning difficulties. The award is designed to run over 9 days however you may find you want to make this longer to suit your students or shorter sessions for after school clubs etc.

Content
The course is divided into 3 mandatory categories and covers the following subjects in depth:
Outdoor Living Skills - bushcraft skills including fire, water, shelter and equipment.
Natural History - plant identification and use, identification of tracks and signs.
Craft - tool use and selection,  craft items including cordage, carving and camp crafts.

If you would like to apply for the licence to run this award, please see the following documents:

This weekend will also focus on standard setting and will involve your feedback to the rest of the group.

Please note the Annual Update weekend for providers is the 13 &14th August 2010. Attendance is free and is mandatory to all licence holders.
